Way to be a freaking debbie downer Slayer. You just can't let anyone else be happy!

Sorry to be so happy slayer. I really help can't help it. My happiness is quite uncontainable right now. i tried to do this --> so it wouldn't be so in your face. but the --> couldn't be stopped.

But yes, the band! They haven't done anything in a really long time. They don't have a new album or anything, they aren't signed anymore either. They just do as they please, and I happened to catch that they were going to be close to me at a good time, And manged to get pit tickets for a good price. And. Just. , so much of that. I was so so so close.

It's been a fantastic summer for music. Who's heard about bonnaroo? I went there too!

I dont go to anything where there will be a large crowd--never been to a band concert (unless it was my college band that I happened to have been playing in)....never have really wanted to go either---loud music is not my thing, I LIKE my hearing (what's left of it--since a stupid trumpet player in hs decided to see how loudly he could play the year the trumpets sat behind my section ).....I wont even PLAY music from a stereo loudly!
concerts just give me the willies---too many people, too loud, and just how in hades are you going to get out of there???
nope no desire whatsoever.
(ok, back in college I did want to see barry manilow and he was playing close by--still not good enough for me to brave the crowds, et.al).
anime and sci-fi conventions are about as much as I ever went to with large crowds....and some of the star trek ones (back before next gen) were pretty huge....but havent been to a one of those in years (did hit the first anime expo in tokyo the year I was there--but it was empty--less than a few hundred people for the whole weekend)...

so I guess the answer is no and I have never heard of any of them (yes I have heard of iron maiden).....loop what loop where?

I think it was called "by and down". They played it at the end of the show. but maynard never told us what the song was called. I just assumed it was by and down.

I just love the energy of a good show. It gives me such a fantastic feeling.

But bonnaroo isn't near Chicago, Loopalooza (spelling?) is there. But Bonnaroo is down in Tennessee. What I loved about that was that it lasted for 4 days. You picked and choose who you wanted to see. And camped out. And everyone was so so chill there. Except for....the man.

Ya, that is what its called. I knew it had down in it but that is it.

Back on our cable discussion. I called Mediacom today to see about getting their basic cable, which for $28 I thought would have like 15-20 channels. Nope. It had 8. 8 channels for $28 bucks a month? Uh, no. The next one up had about 30 channels. $70 bucks a month. WTF?!?! That is more than $2 a channel! Eff that...

just got a note from our wonderful condo assess....they are going to wash and paint the decks--would be nice if they FIXED them first (though I still have the feeling they will paint and THEN wash--they are that kind of stupid here)...../facepalm

Oh I know what a monopoly is, I know Comcast has one in certain places and Mediacom in other places. Bunch of bullshit. All of the talk about not having monopolies and such and yet only 1 cable company can exist in an area? Sounds like a monopoly to me. So ya, for now I think I'm going to stay with watching them on the internet, though getting dish in a few months isn't out of the question yet...

Yes I'm aware, but a lot of the big rock stations here in Chicago advertise it and give free tickets when it comes around. =P

I hate crowds, but if I really want to see an act I will go. Last time was over 5 years ago to see Nickel Creek @ The Wilbur in Boston. I made sure I had seats near an exit as if I had to get out I could do so quickly. How do you say borderline agoraphobic.

You may be on to something pwnd; crowd hating people communicating from many individual places. Who'd have thunk.

Not I. Why would we rather socialize on forums instead of going out places with friends and stuff? Hmmm... couldn't be because of the crowds could it?

nah, its because I can 'socialize' on the internet in my pj's and no one knows (ok now you do)....I dont have to get in my car, drive anywhere-try to find a place to park, pay for gas to get there, pay for a ticket to get into said event, find a place to sit/stand/whatever for said event, figure out how to get out of said event when its completed (before all the crowds hit), get home from said event with tons of extra people crowding the roads.......

yeah, staying at home and using my computer is so much more....efficient

It is cheaper to socialize on the internet. That is for sure. Once you account for gas, tickets, food, etc. Freaking expensive. Uncool.

Thats cool, Free would be awesome ^^ I got my ticket for VERY cheap though. They sell for 280, but I found a guy on craigslist, 2 days before it began, with 1 ticket. He couldn't go because of work or something, and was really afraid he wouldn't be able to sell it in time. First he said $200, but then when we meet up he said $160. I didn't argue.

Big crowds are fine for me, generally. It depends on the situation. Theres a big event around here thats similar to a flea market. A bunch of vendors come set up with their stuff, and a LOT of people go to it, there isn't a lot of walking room. I never could deal with it. Like walking through a crowd, trying to get through it. Everyone is moving slow, or standing in the way because they are looking at one of the vendors. It would take hours and hours just to get through half of it. And it really isn't that big, theres a lot of vendors and people, but they area they use is small. It drove me nuts.

And as far as socializing on the internet vs. crowds - I can do both. Although I have done significantly less socializing over the internet in recent years, I still do it. I do an equal amount of both really. The rest of my time is spent at work. And starting next Wednesday (after my promotion!) I will be making more money, and serving drunk customers on third shift. While wearing fancy manager cloths.

Supposed to be warmer today, 82. But a heck of a lot better than the 97+ we were seeing the previous weeks!

Well time to take my car into the shop. So goodbye to $200+. I guess if it makes my car safe it is worth it...
